Sauraha is a village in the Chitwan District of Nepal situated close by the Rapti River and the Chitawan national park. It is the eastern entrance to Chitwan National Park, starting here as a small, very bizarre Tharu village with mud and daub huts. It has grown into a small quiet town full of western-style hotels and resorts, restaurants, internet cafes, and gift shops.

Chitwan National park was established in 1973CA. It is 923 sq km spend Chitwan, Parsha and Makawanpur elevated 200m Approx. This National Park is famous for the One horn rhino and Royal Bengal Tiger. Fish eater crocodiles and Rock python are also found here.
650 spices of birds and 40 type of snakes found in Chitawan Ntional Park.

How to go Chitawan national park?

By Airplane
Air connections to Sauraha through Bharatpur Airport with daily air services from Pokhara and Kathmandu. The airport lies just 15 kilometers to the west of Sauraha. You need a bus, jeep, taxi for connection to Sauraha from Bharatpur.
By Bus
  • Via Kathmandu — Cheaper buses that drop you at Tadi Bazaar or Narayanghat to easily get a local bus, taxi, rickshaws, tanga/pony carts. The second is a bit more expensive by tourist buses which are direct to Sauraha
  • Via Sunauli / Bhairahawa /Birganj/Biratnagar buses traveling through Tadi Bazaar and Narayanghat.
  • Via Pokhara — direct tourist buses are available via Mugling, Narayangarh / Bharatpur, TadiBazaar Sauraha.
