UNESCO has listed four places in Nepal, including two natural areas, the birthplace of Lord Buddha and the Kathmandu Valley as UNESCO world heritage sites of Nepal. In the case of Kathmandu Valley, it is different from the other three. It is not the whole valley but the seven places within it which are located within a radius of twenty kilometers. These are three historical palaces, two Hindu temples, and two Buddhist temples.

Here is the name of the UNESCO world heritage site of Nepal
  • Sagarmatha National Park located in  Solukhumbu District and listed the year 1979 CE
  • Chitwan National Park located in Chitwan District and listed the year 1984 CE
  • Lumbini, the birthplace of lord buddha in Rupandehi District and listed the year 1997 CE
  • Kathmandu Valley listed the year 1979 CE
Tourists also call the Swayambhunath Stupa the Monkey Temple and it is one of the major pilgrimage sites for Buddhists.
