The Pashupatinath Temple is a famous and sacred Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva that is located on the banks of the Bagmati River. The Pashupatinath temple complex is UNESCO's World Heritage Site. It is not certain how old the temple is, but some story tells its existence to date back to the first century and builds in the 5th century by Licchavi King Prachanda Dev after the previous building was consumed by termites.
There are many legends about how Pashupatinath temple origin. One of the very old legends of cow, After the cow suddenly stopped milking, the herdsman followed the cow and saw the cow milking on a mound of soil. It is said that the herdsman looked at the ground and saw that it had been destroyed by the power of Jyoti linga.
The Pashupatinath temple, which was closed due to an epidemic, has reopened on December 16 after 8 months. Pashupatinath open time 4AM–12PM, 5–9PM. Maha Shivaratri (The day of the Shiva) festival in February/March according to the lunar calendar attracts millions of devotees from Nepal and India.

Apart from Pashupatinath Hindu, there are also stories connected with Kirant and Buddhist communities. Since Nepal has been ruled by Hindus in modern times, the relationship between non-Hindus and Pashupatinath has been destroyed or not written in history.
