It is mentioned in history that the beginning of Nepal was started by Kirants. According to Gopal Raj Banshwali, before Kirant, Gopal was also called the Gwala dynasty and Mahispal dynasty, but they were confined to Kathmandu Valley as cow herders and buffalo herders. Gwala and Mahish mean cow herder and buffalo in the Sanskrit language. Apart from the written material about this, no evidence has been found yet.
The first kiranti king was Ylamber Hang.  The 32 Kirat Kings ruled in Nepal for 1963 years 8 months. The Lichhavi dynasty dethroned the Kirat dynasty in 158 CA according to evidence of the Jaya Barma statue found in Maligaun, Kathmandu. The Kirant community includes Sunuwar, Rai, Limbu, and Yakkha.
