The glory of Maha shivaratri 

Every year, the Hindus celebrate the night of Falgun Krishna Chaturdashi as Shivaratri, the night of the birth of Lord Shiva's Jyotirlinga. They consider this night as the night when the human soul attains salvation. It is described in the Puranas that people get salvation even if they perform the fast of Shivaratri knowingly or unknowingly. This year, Hindus all over the world will celebrate Maha Shivaratri on Thursday, March 11, 2021. The stories of Maha Shivaratri come from various stories, one is how Shiva swallowed the poison of halal to save the world, the other is the annual marriage ceremony of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Devotees fast, pray and observe Maha Shivaratri throughout the night.

In this festival, the children of the Newar community move from house to house asking for firewood and saying that Mahadev felt cold and Ganesh felt dizzy. It was customary to ask for firewood at night and cook halwa, vegetable bread, etc. by lighting a fire in front of the temple. But now that the use of firewood in urban areas has come to an end, instead of asking for firewood, children have been seen pulling ropes from place to place in the morning, blocking vehicles, and asking for donations.

Maha Shivaratri Festival in Nepal

In Nepal, Hindus celebrate Maha Shivaratri by worshiping their deity Mahadev in various Shiva temples, chanting hymns, worshiping, and staying awake all night long. On this occasion, a large crowd of local and foreign devotees gathers early in the morning to worship Shri Pashupatinath. After bathing in the holy river Bagmati near Pashupati, they fast all day in the name of Shiva. In Kathmandu, more than 6,000 saints, including those from India, come to pray at the famous Pashupatinath Temple. These sadhus consume marijuana and cannabis laddu as offerings of Shivaji but this culture has spread as a big perversion in today's youth.
